About CoffeeSpots

Why We’re Building It

It started with a simple question:

Why is it so hard to find a genuinely good specialty coffee shop near you?

We’re not talking about chain lattes or sponsored review sites. We’re talking about the places that care. The cafés where the barista knows their beans, the espresso machine has a name, and the pour-over isn’t just a trend but a craft.

We kept hearing the same complaints:

  • Google Maps is noisy.
  • Review platforms are gamed.
  • Third-wave cafés get buried beneath chains and SEO tricks.

So we built CoffeeSpots, a city-by-city guide to verified specialty cafés where the coffee is serious and the experience is human.

Cafés are more than just coffee. They’re anchors of local neighborhoods. They create jobs, spark conversations, and give communities a place to slow down and connect.

But the cafés doing this right (the local, human-scale ones) are the hardest to find online. We’re here to fix that.

What Makes CoffeeSpots Different

Most directories are just ad engines.

We’re not.

We don’t rank spots by how much they pay. We don’t take a cut of bookings. We don’t list everyone.

Instead, every spot on CoffeeSpots is:

  • Verified by us – based on coffee quality, equipment, and sourcing.
  • Independent or high-quality chain – no low-quality, no fast coffee franchises.
  • Craft-focused – cafés that care about their brew.
  • Community-minded – where people connect.
  • Built for Locals – we focus on real cafés in real neighborhoods.

If a place doesn’t meet the standard, it doesn’t make the map.

Who CoffeeSpots Is For

CoffeeSpots is built for:

  • People who want the best coffee experience.
  • Travelers who care about finding great local spots.
  • People who care about local businesses and neighborhoods
  • Coffee nerds who know their V60 from their Chemex.
  • Newcomers who want to learn what makes good coffee great.
  • Café owners and baristas who take pride in their craft.

If you’re looking for the cheapest coffee on the corner, this probably isn’t your map. But if you care about taste, craft, and supporting small cafés, you’re in the right place.

Our Mission

We’re on a mission to make better coffee more discoverable and to support the cafés that make our cities worth living in. When you choose a spot from CoffeeSpots, you support a local business and keep your neighborhood vibrant.

We’re here to:

  • Map the best specialty coffee shops in every city.
  • Help people find high-quality coffee, faster.
  • Give independent café owners the spotlight they deserve.
  • Build a human-first alternative to the ad-fueled platforms.

Why Local Matters

Every time you choose a neighborhood café over a chain, you:

  • Keep money circulating in your local economy
  • Support baristas, roasters, and makers who care about craft
  • Help maintain the unique character of your city

At CoffeeSpots, we want to make those choices easier and more visible.

Want to Get Involved?
